dōTERRA Guaiacwood Essential Oil - 15ml
Guaiacwood is steam distilled from the heartwood of Bulnesia sarmientoi, a slow-growing tree from the Gran Chaco forest in Paraguay. The wood is dense enough that it has to be ground down to sawdust before the still can draw the oil out of it.
On its own at room temperature the oil turns semi-solid, so doTERRA blends it with fractionated coconut oil at the bottling stage. That means this bottle is already diluted — it pours and applies like a normal single oil, with no extra carrier needed for topical use.
The aroma is earthy and woody with a soft, grounding sweetness, closer to a quiet forest floor than a sharp cedar or pine. It works well as an understated base note in a diffuser blend.

Common questions
Do I need to dilute Guaiacwood before applying it to skin?
No. It's already blended with fractionated coconut oil at the bottling stage, so it's ready to use straight from the bottle.
Why is Guaiacwood already diluted when other single oils aren't?
Left on its own at room temperature, the oil turns semi-solid, so it's blended with a carrier oil to keep it pourable.
What does Guaiacwood smell like?
Earthy and woody with a soft sweetness, more like a quiet forest floor than a sharp cedar or pine note.
What does it blend well with?
It works as a quiet base note under citrus oils such as Wild Orange, or alongside other woods like Sandalwood.
