Wild Orange is the friendliest citrus on the shelf. Where Lemon is sharp, this is round and sweet, closer to the smell of peeling a satsuma than to anything cleaning-related. Almost nobody dislikes it, which makes it a safe choice for shared spaces.

It is also the easiest oil to blend with. It sits happily under spices in the winter, over florals in the spring, and alongside mints year-round. If a blend feels slightly flat, a drop of Wild Orange usually lifts it.

It is one of the cheaper bottles, so it tends to be the one people diffuse most freely.

Why people choose it

  • Sweet, rounded citrus that most people enjoy
  • The most forgiving oil to blend with
  • Well suited to shared rooms and family spaces
  • Cold-pressed from the peel
  • Affordable enough to diffuse daily

How it smells

Sweet and juicy, warmer and rounder than lemon, with a soft tang rather than a sharp one.

How to use it

In a diffuser
Four drops in a diffuser, alone or as the lift on top of a spiced or floral blend.
On skin
Dilute with a carrier oil. Like other cold-pressed citrus oils, keep treated skin out of direct sunlight for around twelve hours.
Dilution
One drop of Wild Orange to four drops of fractionated coconut oil for topical use.
Worth knowing
If you are building a first blend and it smells slightly harsh, one drop of Wild Orange usually rounds it off.

Common questions

What is the difference between Wild Orange and Lemon?

Both are cold-pressed citrus, but Wild Orange is sweeter and rounder while Lemon is sharper and cleaner. Wild Orange tends to suit living rooms, Lemon tends to suit kitchens.

What does Wild Orange blend well with?

Cinnamon and Clove for a warm winter mix, Peppermint for something brighter, or Lavender and Frankincense in the evening.

Is it suitable for a room the whole family uses?

It is the citrus most people reach for in shared spaces because the aroma is sweet rather than sharp. Diffuse in a ventilated room and keep the bottle out of reach of children.

How long does a 15ml bottle last?

Around 250 drops. Diffusing four drops most days, expect roughly two months, though most people use it faster because it goes into so many blends.
