Supermint is a blend of four different mints rather than a single oil — Peppermint, Japanese Mint, Bergamot Mint and Spearmint, each contributing something different. Japanese Mint brings the highest menthol content of the group, Bergamot Mint adds a softer, slightly fruity edge, and Spearmint rounds off the sharpness with a sweeter note.

The result is minty and cooling like Peppermint on its own, but rounder and less one-note, with a herbal sweetness underneath the initial hit of menthol.

It works well in a diffuser first thing in the morning or during a work session, and a well-diluted drop applied to the temples or back of the neck gives the same cooling effect topically.

Why people choose it

  • A blend of Peppermint, Japanese Mint, Bergamot Mint and Spearmint
  • Minty and cooling, rounder than Peppermint on its own
  • Suits mornings and focused work sessions in a diffuser
  • A well-diluted drop gives a cooling effect on skin

How it smells

Minty and cooling with a rounder, sweeter herbal note underneath, less sharp and one-note than Peppermint alone.

How to use it

In a diffuser
Three to four drops in a diffuser, well suited to mornings or a focused work session.
On skin
Dilute well with a carrier oil before applying, and keep it away from the face and eye area.
Dilution
One drop of Supermint to four or five drops of fractionated coconut oil for topical use.
Worth knowing
Like Peppermint, the cooling sensation is stronger than the diluted percentage suggests, so a light hand goes a long way.

Common questions

What's actually in Supermint?

Four mint oils blended together — Peppermint, Japanese Mint, Bergamot Mint and Spearmint — rather than a single mint species.

How is it different from Peppermint on its own?

Rounder and less one-note. Japanese Mint adds extra menthol, while Bergamot Mint and Spearmint bring a softer, slightly sweeter edge underneath the cooling hit.

How many drops should I use in a diffuser?

Three or four is usually enough. Like Peppermint, it carries a long way and can dominate a blend if you add too much.

What does it blend well with?

Citrus oils such as Wild Orange or Lemon brighten it further, and it holds its own alongside herb oils like Rosemary.
