Geranium is steam distilled from the leaves, stems and flowers of the plant, harvested just as it starts to flower rather than at full bloom, since yield drops once the plant is in full flower. It's distilled within hours of harvest, using crops grown in Madagascar's central highlands and on the slopes of Mount Kenya.

The aroma is rosy and green, sweeter and softer than a true rose but sharing enough of the same character that it's sometimes used as a more affordable stand-in for it in a blend. There's a slightly minty freshness underneath that keeps it from feeling too heavy.

A few drops in a diffuser bring a soft, floral lift to a blend, and it's a popular addition to an unscented moisturiser or toner for anyone who wants a rosy scent in a skincare routine without the cost of Rose itself.
